Kigali International Airport, Rwanda

Rwanda is one of the smallest countries in Africa and as such does not have many airports. The main gateway to the country is Kigali International Airport (HRYR), which Carlyle Sharpe, Jacques Botha, and Frits Beyer have created a scenery for, which is available at AVSIM.

Installation

Installation is pretty straight forward, but beware that there is a altitude change file which needs to go to the \scenery\world\scenery folder. The scenery also contains a simple traffic file to add some GA traffic, which makes use of default aircraft.

The scenery

The airport looks great and has a lot of extra details, such as static aircraft, custom buildings and animated people (see beginning of video). Frame rates are pretty good and I got an average frame rate between 20 and 30 per second. The scenery seems to be very accurate compared to satellite photos, and even includes a custom mesh.

AI works well at this airport and there is plenty of parking available, although it won’t be the busiest of airports due to the nature of air travel in Rwanda. Overall this is a great scenery and absolutely recommended.
