Hahnweide Kirchheim Airport, Germany
Hahnweide Kirchheim is located in southern Germany, south-east of Stuttgart Airport, and the scenery by Wolfgang Allers and Joachim Herwig is available for download at AVSIM.
Installation
The scenery relies on three object libraries, FS-Piloten_Objektlibrary, FSX_FlightPortLib and 3d People Library, which are required for all objects to be shown. The installation is fairly simple, just extract the files to where your sceneries are located, in addition to extracting the effects folder to the main FSX folder.
The scenery includes a photo scenery, both for default FS scenery and for VFR Germany users.
Please note that I was not able to extract the files using 7-Zip and had to extract the files using WinRAR instead.
The scenery
The airport is beautifully detailed, with a lot of eye-candy, such as people, cars and static aircraft. Although the amount of detail means that unless you have a powerful computer, you will get a reduction in frame-rate or have to reduce the quality, it’s still a delight to fly around it. As you can see in the video below, I got an average frame rate around 8 or 9.
The airport is not AI friendly, so for those who love to see planes come and go, instead of a bunch of static planes, you would need to wait for someone to create an AI friendly AFCAD for this airport, or maybe have a go at making one.
