104 European Diamond Katanas
« on: July 11, 2026, 03:14:52 PM »
Paints for a lot of Diamond/HOAC DA-20/DV-20 Katanas - 104 to be precise. Painted as DXT1 for FS2004. Most of these are still in operation with the same organisation, some may have moved on, in some cases into private hands. The Spanish one crashed last year! My FS2004 AI system is frozen in 2019, and it was flying back then. So, use or discard at your discretion.

The aircraft CFG file will need to be renumbered (FSRenum or other programs can do this for you).

As far as I can tell, the only Katanas made by Andras Neuman came with "boots", or spats as I prefer. Most of the aircraft painted have had these removed and fly with bare wheels.

I'm using FSXSe for my AI stuff these days and am having the usual Black Prop issues and despite trying bthe DXTBMP trick I cant get the props to go transparent.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

I think it's because FSX handles alpha channels differently, but I can't recall how this gets fixed, as I've never had to do it! Perhaps if there's an FSX version or an FSX paint somewhere, the prop texture can be used from that? In FS9. the best place to put it is in the default texture folder, so it gets applied to all liveries using just the one copy, and that might also work for FSX.

I think the ANAI models are a little different in that there is a front and back but despite trying the DXTBMP trick I cant get them transparent.
Ive also tried one of the default props but that doesnt work although i did manage to get the front to work visually but the back remained black.
Thanks for the reply.

I think I modified the props on my FS9 for the Katana, as the transparency wasn't good enough for my tastes. A fairly static disc isn't what I wanted, so I thinned out the transparency and created a radial "blurred blade" effect on it.

The backs of many props these days are painted black, and with a fairly coarse tough paint. It's because the rear of the blades gets eroded by dust and salt water over the years, and black is also kinder to the pilot sitting behind it.

I'm not quite sure how to get those texture effects in FSX. It might mean finding a suitable texture on another aircraft and creating a copy of that with the ANAI filename.
