Title: PC-6 for FS9
Post by: JohnTenn on February 17, 2023, 07:42:25 PM
I have modified this model significantly since the early version was made available for compilation for FSX.

Dihedral corrected, windows cut out, angle of propellor corrected, gear legs made more sturdy and numerous details added.

Examples of H4. HB-FDU started out as a piston engine A1-H2.

Where do I find the FS9 model website from?

Thanks,

Stuart

Thanks Morten,

Stuart, I was so happy with the result that I just had to share the images. I have not uploaded this model anywhere.
I still have incomplete textures because of the changes to the landing gear.

I will send you a link to download the H4's I have, in their current state, in a PM.

That's looking great, John, I like the attention to the fact that the still prop would be feathered!

Thank you for the kind words, Gents.

I am contemplating uploading the H4 with blank textures in place of those textures that are incomplete.

Note also there are versions with a sliding door on both sides and versions with a 3 blade prop.

I have separated out the H2 and M2 models. The wingspan is less with the blunt ends.

PC-6 always reminds me of this clip. Great movie!

I'm quite happy for the release to be on your schedule, John. Don't feel rushed by our enthusiasm, we know these things take time to do and even longer before the author gets happy with them. We're in FS9 for the long haul, we can be patient!

PC-6's still flying into strips like that in Indonesia and Papua.

I did upload a set of models to Avsim on 21 February.
Not sure what is happening there now as the library is off-line.

In the interim I have found problems with models (shifted vertices etc.) Causing display issues.
I have also not used the correct "make model" text so the flaps do not animate for take-off. Realised that now.

Here are screen shots of two new paints on new (to FS9) airstrips.

If someone would like these models please let me know on one of the AI forums. My username is the same.

Avsim library seems back to normal now as I just pulled it down from the site.  ;)

Thanks, I see that now.

Note those models have not been repaired yet.

Known issues are:
1. The right-hand side of the nose has a mapping issue.
2. Faint line behind sliding door.
3. Smoothing on the nose is just wrong.
4. A strip of wing underside is visible in the cabin.
5. Flap does not lower partially for take-off.

Still working on a solution to the wing in cabin issue.

Here is an original piston engine PC-6 converted to B2 with PT-6 engine.

Hope to have improved versions completed soon.

John

Update

I have now modified the inside of the cabin to hide the bottom section of the wing.
The other Updates have already been completed.

The catch is, I will have rationing on electricity so recompiling the models and creating a package will be delayed.

I will upload an updated H4 Package as soon as I have it done.

Here is the first example of the updated model. The black colour hides the improved smoothing on the nose.

Thank you, John. You are very kind.

I am heartened by the fact that the second batch was also downloaded.
It can't be too bad then.

I am still working on the H2 variants. Having to find examples that I am able to paint and have flight plans.

Having to create new airstrips for almost all flight plans also takes time.

Hope to share them soon.

John
